Rehabilitation in the Home (RITH) Services in Australia
Rehabilitation in the Home (RITH) is a program that aims to assist individuals to recover at home, where their hospital team believes it is appropriate.
After surgery, or a lengthy stay in hospital, rehabilitation may typically be required or recommended by your health practitioner. Rehabilitation in the home programs allow you to receive care in your own home*, when it’s clinically appropriate, instead of having your rehabilitation in hospital. This may include at-home physiotherapy, occupational therapy, and nursing. In some cases, domiciliary support, such as personal care, domestic care or meals may also be provided as part of your care. Other allied health services such as dietetics and speech therapy may also be required.
Where clinically appropriate, we may provide home rehabilitation services for individuals with the following health conditions:
Home rehabilitation services, where clinically appropriate, provide rehabilitation in the privacy and comfort of your own home. This means you can have your family, friends and pets around you, and enjoy all the little things that make life more comfortable such as sleeping in your own bed and watching your own TV.
Rehabilitation at home is also more convenient with our program, eliminating the need to travel to any follow-up appointments and spending time sitting in waiting rooms.
Rehabilitation in the home may be funded under private health insurance. Please contact your health fund to find out if you are eligible.
